About Holly DelHousaye

Holly DelHousaye | Author of SoulWork

Holly DelHousaye (pronounced del-who-say) has been formally mentoring women since 1999. She designed the SoulWork curriculum to provide a helpful structure for an in-depth mentoring experience. Her goal in mentoring is life-to-life exchange whereby both the mentor and the mentee are enriched and blessed by the relationship.

At age 12, Holly personally received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. When Jesus Christ is invited into a life, Ephesians 3:20, says that He "is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond" anything that we could ask or think. He makes dreams come true!

Holly grew up in the Iowa cornfields, but knew she was a “city girl” and dreamed of someday living in Southern California. At 18 years of age, her Southern California dream became a reality. She moved to Los Angeles, California in 1967. Holly felt drawn to the private sector and the possibilities of entrepreneurship. Her first job as a file clerk at Kemper Insurance quickly moved her into the position of secretary to the West Coast branch manager. During that time, she met and married a young junior high pastor named Darryl DelHousaye in 1970.

Darryl went on to graduate from Talbot Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree. He became the senior pastor of San Lorenzo Valley Baptist Church, Felton, California in 1974 where he remained for 6 years. In 1981, Darryl became senior pastor of Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. This church grew rapidly and Holly enjoyed a long and fruitful ministry of 25 years. Darryl still serves as Pastor Emeritus of Scottsdale Bible Church.

In 1992, after raising two sons and serving in many church ministries, Holly looked to God to refocus her life. She served for five years as assistant to the vice-dean for Phoenix Programs for The University of Arizona College of Medicine. There she set up the Phoenix office and assisted the vice-dean as a liaison between the College of Medicine and the Phoenix community.

From 1992 to 1999, Holly also developed a team ministry at Scottsdale Bible Church directed to business and professional women. Women of Substance became a vital community of believers providing a safe harbor for personal growth.

In 1999, after prayer and encouragement from friends, Holly created a non-profit ministry called Prickly Perspectives, Inc. The ministry of PPI provided many opportunities for her to contribute her experience in pioneering new ministries, creating mentoring tools and facilitating personal development to the community of faith at large.

Holly closed down her non-profit in 2009 to incorporate SoulWork, Inc. and make room for a new venture at Phoenix Seminary called the Center for Women with Vision (CWV). She served as executive director of the CWV from 2009 - 2012. In addition to using her visionary talents to develop the center through team building, life-to-life exchange and transformation alchemy, she continued to mentor using her SoulWork curriculum. From 2009 to present, Holly has served as President of SoulWork, Inc.

Holly and her husband, Darryl, have served together in four pastorates ranging in size from 70-7000 in their almost 50 years of marriage. In 1997, Darryl assumed the position of interim, part-time president of Phoenix Seminary. In January of 2006, he retired as senior pastor of Scottsdale Bible Church and became the full-time president of Phoenix Seminary. In addition to his duties at Phoenix Seminary, Darryl had served as an interim teaching pastor at several churches in the Phoenix area.

The DelHousayes have two married sons and six grandchildren. John (Tiffany) is associate professor of New Testament at Phoenix Seminary and Kent (Stephanie) is the Co-Founder and Director of the Love & Transformation Institute.
